Your first online tournament: a beginner checklist

Everything to sort out before match day so you can focus on playing.

Signing up for your first tournament is exciting. Showing up unprepared is not. Here is what to do in the days before, so the only thing you worry about on match day is the match.

A week before

  • Read the rules, especially check-in time, map pool and what happens if someone disconnects.
  • Make sure every player has the right account, rank and region.
  • Agree on a voice channel and a backup.

The day before

  • Install updates for the game, drivers and your voice app.
  • Run a speed test and close anything that downloads in the background.
  • Play a few warm-up matches together.

On match day

Check in early. Most tournaments remove teams that miss the check-in window, and organizers rarely make exceptions. Have water nearby, keep comms calm, and say good game at the end, whatever the score.
